Why Radio Needs A Mobile Strategy...

The world's mobile device population is estimated to grow to more than 7.7 billion devices this year. That includes smartphones, tablets, phablets, laptops and connected devices. That makes mobile a strategy, not just a channel, according to a research brief written by Media Post (http://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/238314/mobiles-a-strategy-not-just-a-channel.html). Yet, how many radio stations have a mobile strategy?

There are also far too many marketers without a mobile strategy. A new study from the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council finds that only 17% of marketers have mobile strategies that are fully integrated and aligned with their overarching marketing strategies. 31% admit that they either have no strategy or view mobile as a campaign and not a business strategy. 61% of marketers have dabbled, using some form of mobile engagement. 54% of respondents say the mobile channel has become critical to customer ('listeners' apply too) interaction, retention and brand distinction. When marketers were asked to identify a brand that stood out as a leader in mobile relationship marketing, no single organization emerged, and that no one brand had yet proven to be the mobile champion. Radio's brand is the personality of its product - the substance, soul and feel of a radio station that serves its audience...

Radio can't allow itself to be left behind in this digital world we find ourselves involved in. And that involvement will grow even more in the years ahead. Mobile is part of that world. Oh, by the way, can your website be read properly on a mobile device? If not, make sure it is...
